This Privacy Policy explains how Family Caddy, a product of EightFive Technology (“we”, “us”, or “our”), collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and applications (together, the “Service”). We built Family Caddy for households, and we take the privacy of your family seriously.
By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Who is responsible for your information
The Service is operated by EightFive Technology. For families using Family Caddy, the adult account owner controls the information added about their household, and EightFive Technology processes that information to provide the Service.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run Family Caddy:
- Account and identity information. When you sign in, we use a secure identity provider (Microsoft Entra External ID, which supports Google, Apple, Microsoft, and email sign-in) to verify who you are. We receive basic details such as your name and email address. We never receive or store your sign-in password.
- Family content you create. The information you add to run your household — family member profiles and colours, chores and schedules, goals and star rewards, shopping and to-do lists, and related notes.
- Google Calendar data (optional). If a family administrator connects a Google account, we access calendar information to show and manage your events inside Family Caddy. See “Google user data” below.
- Payment information. Paid plans are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly; we do not receive or store full card numbers. We keep records such as your subscription status and billing history.
- Technical and usage data. Basic device, browser, and log information (such as IP address and timestamps) needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. As an installable app (PWA), Family Caddy also stores data locally on your device to work offline.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its features.
- Sync and display your calendar, chores, goals, and lists across devices.
- Process subscriptions and payments through Stripe.
- Keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.
- Respond to your requests and provide support.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Google user data
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. When a family administrator chooses to connect it, Family Caddy requests only the access needed to make the calendar feature work:
- Identity (
openid, email, profile) to confirm which Google account is connected. - Calendar list (read-only) to show your calendars and whether they can be edited.
- Calendar events to read, create, update, and delete events you manage from within Family Caddy.
Google access and refresh tokens are stored encrypted, and calendar data is used solely to provide the in-app calendar experience. You can disconnect Google at any time from your Family Caddy settings, or revoke access from your Google Account permissions.
Family Caddy’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it or transfer it to third parties except as needed to provide the Service, comply with the law, or as part of a merger or acquisition.
How we share information
We share information only in these limited situations:
- Service providers. Trusted vendors that help us run the Service — including Microsoft (identity and cloud hosting), Google (calendar integration), and Stripe (payments) — process information on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
- Within your family. Content you add is visible to members of your household in the app, by design.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with continued protection of your information.
How we store and protect information
Family data is stored in Microsoft Azure and isolated per family. We apply industry-standard safeguards, including encryption of sensitive data (such as calendar credentials) and encryption of data in transit. While no online service can be completely secure, we work hard to protect your information and to limit access to it.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete content or close your account, we remove or de-identify the associated information within a reasonable period, unless we must retain it to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
Your rights and choices
- Access, update, or correct your information within the app.
- Delete family content, or request deletion of your account.
- Disconnect Google Calendar and revoke access at any time.
- Manage subscriptions and billing through the app and Stripe.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Children’s privacy
Family Caddy is designed for families and is intended to be used by adults who manage a household. Accounts must be created by an adult (18 or older). Parents and guardians may add profiles and information about their children to organize family life; that information is controlled by the adult account owner. The Service is not directed to children for the purpose of creating their own accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us information improperly, please contact us and we will address it.
International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
